Whiterocks Beach, near Portrush

July 2009

Whiterocks is a long, lively beach with good parking and toilets. This is a beach for both swimmers and surfers. During the summer there are surfboards and all the gear for hire.

The beach is a bit open and can be windy so you might want to bring a windbreak if you are heading there with children. However, there are rocks at the end near the entrance, so shelter can be found

Because of its openness the water can get a bit choppy, but it's fine for young people, and adults, who like to mess about in the waves

Whiterocks is a long beach, good for walking. It has big, sandy dunes which look just right for children to climb and tumble.

Lifeguards are on duty during the summer months.

Blue Flag beach.

Not accessible for wheelchairs, accessible for buggies.

Whiterocks is located along the A2, past the spectacular busyness of the Giants Causeway but before you come to Portrush. Coming from the Causeway a right turn signpost will bring you to a beach which is well worth a visit.
