Rosslare Strand

August 2010

Rosslare is far from being the most attractive place to swim in Wexford, but it is a popular location with good facilities. This is bucket and spade territory so there will usually be plenty of children here playing in and out of the water.

The beach is long and narrow but for swimming it does have the bonus that the tide doesn’t go out too far. The water here is of the dark, sandy variety but it’s grand to swim in and the Blue Flag indicates its cleanliness.

Access to the beach is from a smallish car park in the centre of the town. It is quite manageable for buggies , but the sand near the entrance is soft and it looks difficult for wheelchairs.

Lifeguards are on duty during the summer months and there are toilets in the car park.
