Baltray

by | 23 Jul 2020 | Louth

Baltray (historically Ballytra, from Irish: Baile Trá, meaning ‘town of the beach’) sits on the northern shore of the River Boyne estuary. Home to the Little Tern Conservation Project since 2007, part of its beach at the Haven is fenced to protect nesting Little Terns,  from May to August each year. Be mindful of the special conservation area. If you are travelling near Drogheda, this may be a good place to enjoy a swim. Post a comment if you have been for a swim here. This place is also highlighted as suitable for naturism by the Irish Naturism Association.
